They are a specialized bantam (miniature) breed of domestic duck. While a standard mallard or Pekin duck can weigh anywhere from 6 to 12 pounds, a fully grown Call Duck is incredibly tiny usually weighing a mere 1 to 1.5 pounds. You can easily hold a fully mature adult comfortably in the palm of your hand.
As babies, Call ducklings are outrageously small, exceptionally fluffy, and look like real-life toy rubber duckies.
